From time to time I will be sharing details on some of the original source documents that I used for my research. Many are available online. A key source of information is a report complied by the Maryland state assembly a short time after the rioting. It includes 79 eyewitness depositions, which were transcribed from shorthand (see sample of Mayor Edward Johnson statement courtesy of MdHS) and published along with an executive summary.
